Watched a show on Discovery Channel yesterday.
A really nice one about Stardust.
Everything that we are made of, everything that we know and love is made from the stars. We are stardust.
I feel so lucky, being alive in this golden age of the Universe.
See those stars in the sky? All those planets?
The Universe wasn’t always like this, and it won’t be.
At this point, the Universe is still expanding.
Stars are born, new planets are formed.
But as the elements are being used up,
Soon, the stars will go out.
One by one.
Until the Universe is, once again,
In complete darkness.
Think about it.
In a trillion years,
There will be no light in the Universe.
———————————————————-
When I think about it,
It’s actually quite sad.
Imagine a world without light.
Without warmth.
Just a huge stretch of emptiness.
But then again I wouldn’t be alive by then.
Imagine the lives of the people, living a billion years after my death.
Imagine their pain, as they see the stars going out in the night sky.
We really are the lucky ones.
Living in an era where the Universe is so breathtakingly beautiful.
———————————————————-
It’s these things that remind me constantly of how small and insignificant we are.
How I won’t even leave a trace on this Universe during my lifetime.
A trillion years may seem like a long time to us,
But to the Universe?
It’s just a short cycle of an explosion that happened 13.7 billion years ago.
We are literally nothing more than a speck of dust.
But, not dust.
(:
Stardust.
